Thunderbird for Good
Thunderbird for Good was created in 2005 with the mission to “create prosperity through business education for all.” To accomplish this, the initiative leverages Thunderbird School of Global Management’s expertise as a leader in international business education to provide non-traditional students with business and management skills to fight poverty, secure peace, and improve living conditions in their communities. Many of Thunderbird for Good’s programs focus on educating businesswomen in developing countries. To date, Thunderbird for Good has trained over 75,000 women from 26 different countries, ranging from Afghanistan to Uzbekistan and from Pakistan to Palau. Learn more...

Sister-to-Sister to Sister: The Women's Heart Health Foundation
Sister to Sister: The Women's Heart Health Foundation was established by women's health advocate Irene Pollin MSW, Phd (hon) in 1999. A widely published expert on chronic illness, Mrs. Pollin realized that women were losing their lives to a disease they had the power to prevent. Sister to Sister was the first national organization to offer free cardiovascular screenings, and provided over 80,000 while educating hundreds of thousands of women. Sister to Sister in partnership with Brigham and Women's Hospital now reaches out to millions of women through their free, personalized online wellness program, Smart for the Heart.

Friends of the American University of Afghanistan
Friends of The American University of Afghanistan (Friends of AUAF) is the development and communications center for the dedicated supporters of higher education in Afghanistan. We are dedicated to supporting higher education in Afghanistan through entities such as AUAF, Afghanistan’s only independent, private, not for profit, non-sectarian, coeducational institution of higher learning. In an effort to raise awareness for AUAF, Friends of AUAF hosts large-scale events across the United States to cultivate prospective donors; facilitates small corporate briefings; and advocates for continued educational development in Afghanistan.

In March 2011, two outstanding organizations were featured at the AWIU U.S. Secretary of State's International Women of Courage Celebration.

Grossman Burn Foundation:
In 2007 Dr. Peter Grossman and his wife Rebecca founded the Grossman Burn Foundation (GBF) to serve as the philanthropic arm of the prestigious Grossman Burn Centers.  The GBF Mission is to provide local and worldwide support in the areas of health care, including financial aid, safety, legal support and education to families and children who have suffered a burn or related injury.  We support the development of self-sustainable communities worldwide through partnerships and teamwork.

J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Program:
Established by the U. S. Congress in 1946 under legislation introduced by then Senator J. William Fulbright of Arkansas and funded with an annual appropriation, the Fulbright Program is the flagship international educational exchange program designed to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries.  U. S. and foreign governments jointly set priorities for the exchanges.  Participating governments and host institutions, corporations and foundations in foreign countries and in the United States also provide direct and indirect support.  The Fulbright Program operates in 155 countries and awards approximately 8,000 grants annually.

AWIU thanks Stephen and Susan Chandler for generously underwriting the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Program table.
